Privacy Policy

farmXtra is a farm-management web application at farmxtra.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you use it, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it plainly.

Who we are

farmXtra™ is a product of Lectric Avenue Electronics Ltd. (“we”, “us”), a company registered in British Columbia, Canada. We are the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at support@farmxtra.com or by post at Box 447, Creston, BC V0B 1G0, Canada.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you choose to sign in with Google, the name, email address and profile picture that Google shares with us. We do not receive your Google password.

Farm data you enter. Everything you put into farmXtra to run your farm: farm name and location, field and block boundaries, crops, spray and treatment records, inventory, equipment, tasks, notes, customer and vendor records, point-of-sale transactions, staff names and roles, and similar records. This data belongs to you; we store and process it only to provide the service.

Location. If you allow it, the app uses your device’s GPS to place map pins and to fetch weather for your farm. Location is used only when you trigger those features and is stored only as part of the farm records you create (for example, the position of a field or an issue you flag).

Sensor and weather data. If you connect weather or soil sensors (for example an Ecowitt gateway), we retrieve readings from that provider using the credentials you supply, and we fetch public weather forecasts for your farm location.

Phone numbers for SMS alerts. If you turn on SMS alerts, we store the phone number you enter so that alerts can be sent to it.

Payment information. Paid plans are billed through Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe’s pages and are never stored on our servers. We keep only the subscription status, plan tier and Stripe identifiers needed to manage your account.

Support messages. If you contact us through the in-app form or by email, we keep the message and your contact details so we can reply.

Technical information. Like most web services, our hosting and authentication providers record standard technical details such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, used for security and to keep the service running. We do not run advertising trackers.

How we use it

• To provide the farmXtra service to you and the people you invite to your farm.
• To sign you in and keep your account secure.
• To send you the emails and SMS messages the app generates — account confirmations, password resets, staff invitations, task and pest-alert notifications you have enabled.
• To bill you for paid plans.
• To answer your support requests.
• To improve the pest models, spray guides and other features. Where we do this we use aggregated or de-identified data.

We do not sell your information and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers we need to run farmXtra, and only for that purpose:

Within your farm, the data you enter is visible to the staff members you invite according to the roles you give them. We will also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

Where your data lives

Our database and application servers are provided by Supabase and Cloudflare and may be located outside Canada, including in the United States. By using farmXtra you consent to your information being stored and processed in those locations, where it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and farm data for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, or ask us to, we delete your farm data within 30 days, except where we must keep records for tax, accounting or legal reasons (for example, invoices). Backups roll off on their own schedule after that.

Your choices and rights

• You can view and edit your farm data at any time inside the app.
• You can turn SMS alerts and email notifications off in the app’s settings.
• You can revoke the app’s access to your Google account from your Google account settings.
• You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and data, by emailing support@farmxtra.com.

We comply with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

Security

All traffic to farmXtra is encrypted with HTTPS. Data is stored in an access-controlled database with row-level permissions so that each farm’s data is visible only to its own members. Payment card data is handled entirely by Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so we also encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your device up to date.

Children

farmXtra is a business tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, where appropriate, tell you inside the app or by email.
